Happy Summer!! I hope you all had an amazing time celebrating Canada 150. It was rainy and overcast here on the east coast, but a few breaks in the rain to let us get out on the Summer Patio to take in some fireworks and celebrate in style. After experiencing how busy the restaurant was last summer I knew how much time I would be spending there again this year. Rather than pouring my effort into creating a backyard oasis at my home, I thought I would make a space that the whole community could enjoy. A place for customers to kick back, relax, and enjoy one of our many craft beers. I’m delighted to have the opportunity to partner with Canadian Tire to help create this summer patio and showcase the CANVAS collection.
Obviously because The Union Street is situated dead smack in the middle of our town, there isn’t the opportunity to have a private patio in a dreamy setting. We’re in a parking lot, but we’re working with what we have… in style I might add! We had a few hurdles (not to mention a string of permits) to be able to create this space. I am so happy how it has all came together, I hope you like it too!
Outdoor living isn’t only for the cottage. Let us do the cooking and shake the drinks, just sit back and relax, we’ll even wash the dishes!
The lounge furniture in the CANVAS collection is what summer relaxing is made of. The deep cushions, and wide frame on this Modena Collection make it easy to kick up your feet and forget all your summer woes. Sip on a tasty cocktail that our bartender Andy creates and you’re going to want to stay all day!
I just love the vibrant colors and fun pattern of this area rug!
Last year our restaurant patio consisted of two tables on the sidewalk. Our liquor license allowed us to have 11 people seated out there. This year a bit of an improvement bumped it up to 71! Now we have 6 areas for groups to congregate in comfort.
We’ve already hosted a few large parties on the patio and it is the perfect overflow when we have live music! According to the permits we weren’t allowed to really ‘build’ anything. With the help of my handy cousin Justin, we were able to work with some inexpensive materials to come up with a plan to make an attractive space on a shoestring budget.
There is no denying we’re in a parking lot, but when you’re on the patio it’s easy to escape into relaxation and delicious food that our customers don’t mind a bit!
The CANVAS collection has so many great accessories to accent your patio oasis. Lanterns, toss cushions, outdoor rugs, umbrellas, dishware and serveware, all so attractive and made to withstand our Canadian climate.
We created two areas on the patio. One that is more a conversation area with sofas, chairs, and coffee tables. The other more of a dining area. The dining area backs up against a pre-existing garden that was once ignored. Now it’s part of our patio and much more appreciated.
Isn’t this table Seabrooke concrete top table stunning?! We chose to seat 4 at each table, but 6 would work comfortably as well.
This patio collection is so versatile, it works wonderfully in our public space as well as your own backyard. See how my friend Jenn from Clean and Sensible used it at her house by clicking here.
The coordinating Seabrooke Wicker Chairs are our secret weapon to make you stay a little longer, so comfortable!
I think my favorite part is the patio lanterns. It really makes our little patio so inviting!
I’d love to know what your favourite part of our summer patio is?
I really hope you all have a happy relaxing summer in your own backyard.
Please join us at The Union Street patio this summer. We have some tasty snacks and drinks waiting for you!
*** Big thank-you to Canadian Tire for their help creating this amazing community space. All of the opinions expressed in this post and the patio design are 100% my own. ***
