Supplies Needed for a Heart-Shaped Wreath Form:
- 1 wire coat hanger
- 1 small pipe insulator (preferably with adhesive backing, like the one shown with the yellow strip in the photo, found in the plumbing section)
- Duct tape
- Scissors
- Pliers
How To Make a Heart-Shaped Wreath Form
- Shape the Wire Hanger: Bend the wire coat hanger into a heart shape, primarily using your hands. Use pliers to help bend the neck of the hanger down and back up towards the top of the heart, forming the center dip. Then, use the pliers to bend the hook into a small circle for hanging your finished wreath.
- Prepare the Pipe Insulator: Cut the pipe insulator in half. Take one half and wrap it around one side of the wire hanger, ensuring the seam faces outward. If the insulator has adhesive, remove the backing strip and press the seam together firmly. Repeat this process on the other side of the hanger with the second half of the insulator.
- Shape the Heart’s Point: Use scissors to cut a 45-degree angle on the bottom edge of each side of the pipe insulator. This angled cut will allow the foam pieces to fit together snugly, forming the point of the heart.
- Secure the Foam: Wrap a few strips of duct tape around the top (where the insulator pieces meet at the dip) and the bottom (at the heart’s point) to hold everything securely in place.

A heart-shaped wreath is a symbol of love, romance, and affection. It represents warmth and care, making it a perfect decorative addition for Valentine’s Day or any special occasion to express love and appreciation.
Wreaths have held symbolic meaning since ancient times, dating back to Ancient Greece, where they represented the circle of eternal life at funerals. In early Christian Europe, evergreen wreaths were placed at the graves of virgin martyrs, symbolizing the triumph of the eternal spirit over death. Today, a wreath on your door can signify a warm welcome, seasonal celebrations, or remembrance of special moments. In the context of this blog post, a heart-shaped wreath takes on an even deeper meaning, symbolizing love and romance—perfect for Valentine’s Day or any occasion that celebrates heartfelt connections.

In conclusion, as January rolls around creating a heart-shaped wreath is a delightful way to infuse romance into your home decor. It’s a great craft to make when the Christmas decorations have been put away and love day is upon us. With its versatility and customizable design, this wreath makes an excellent gift for loved ones, especially during Valentine’s Day. Whether you prefer traditional floral accents or whimsical pom poms, the love and warmth will shine through in your beautiful wreath. Happy crafting!

This is such a clever idea as you can get huge pieces of pipe insulator for a low cost. I used to use it in the classroom to make marble roller coasters, but now I’d love to pick up some and make a wreath for my home.
I LOVE the marble idea Stephanie, I’m going to have to try that one too!

I’m in need of making my own funeral wreath and because my uncle won’t be buried till a month later, it was requested that flowers used for the funeral be artificial so that they can keep the arrangements and place them at the gravesite when that time comes. My question for you ma’am is, how can I use this same technique but using artificial flowers and possibly making it a lot bigger? Thanks for your time
TO make it bigger I would suggest trying to link two coat hangers together, you’ll definitely need some pliers as bending them are quite hard on the hands. I would get flowers that are on a vine rather than stems so you can wrap it around, I don’t thing hot glue would hold up to the elements. Let me know how you make out.Sorry for your loss
About how many pompoms do you need?
Depending on the size of your pom poms, approx 35. Good luck!
