Fall Front Porch Ideas
When working on a budget I try to bring in items from nature. I know not everyone lives in the country and can just scavenge their backyard, but if you’re clever about it, I’m sure you can come up with some ideas!

Tips for Decorating Your Porch For Fall

- Start with oversize planters that will fill a big portion of your design area. I chose to invest in large ones that I can use for every season. Invest once, use for years! (By invest they were $39 at IKEA, not huge money). If you’re handy, I love these DIY planters from Woodshop Diaries.
- Shop around for fall flowers. I always get fall mums for my porch at Costco, they are only $13. I also see great deals at the grocery and hardware stores.
- Did you know fall mums are tender perennials? After the first frost, cut back the foliage to a couple of inches above the soil and keep inside for the winter. Plant them in the spring to establish a good root system and you’ll be on your way to flowers you don’t have to buy again in the fall!

- Rather than buying just pumpkins, include pretty varieties of squash. After the decorative season passes, you can eat them!
- The same goes for pumpkins, incorporate some pie pumpkins, so they can double as dessert! Choose full ones to carve just a few days prior to Halloween.

- Use wood stumps to elevate pumpkins to different heights. I just grabbed a few stumps from my woodpile.
- Add in a cute chalkboard with a fall sentiment. Grab this fall cut file in my Etsy shop.
- Incorporate fall foliage to bring in colours.

There are a few of my fall front porch decoration ideas I use when keeping on a budget. A few splurges at the beginning for pieces to use over and over again, and incorporate natural elements to bring it all together!
