I am very excited to announce I have been chosen by Jeffrey Court to participate in a 6-week All-Star design challenge!
If you haven’t caught wind, I am building a vacation rental in my basement!! Being selected to participate in the Jeffrey Court All-Star Renovation Challenge couldn’t have come at a better time. With Wilson’s help, I’ll be competing alongside 7 other designers for a grand prize of $5000!
Jeffrey Court All-Star Renovation Challenge

My plans for this phase of the project include renovating my dark unused basement into a sweet kitchenette, dining and sitting room.
Below is what space looked like when we got started last week.

It has potential, right? Did I mention the entire basement flooded last fall? It. Was. A. Nightmare.

The aesthetic I’m leaning towards is Palm Beach meets rural living. Soft pinks, pops of dark green and mustard yellow, complemented with splashes of gold. Contrast with natural elements of marble and wood will make this small Airbnb stylish, inviting and relaxing for guests.

I have chosen to tile the floor with the Bronson Marble Mosaic Tile, and the backsplash of the kitchenette will be using the Larchmont Metallic Interlocking Marble with Metal Mosaic Tile. I can’t wait to see how these two geometric patterns play with one another and the metallic accents tie all the elements in the space together with a touch of glam. I am also pleased to partner with Berh, and Frog Tape, to bring some soft colour into the basement.
Wilson worked hard behind the scenes this week to get a jump on the framing.

With the help of my nephew, he enclosed the ductwork and built a wall to separate the bathroom area from the kitchen. It is hard to visualize what is going to happen in the beginning stages, but hold on friends, I promise it is going to be great!

Other brand partnerships will play a role in making this space beautiful and functional. Pearl Canada, Formica, Daniolite, Hisense, Photowall, and Schaub.

I am eager to add design and colour to this space and watch it come to life! I hope you will follow along with this exciting Jeffrey Court All-Star Challenge and vote for your favourite renovation in the coming weeks as all the participant spaces come to life.
