The transformation wasn’t just cosmetic—we completely rethought the kitchen layout to maximize efficiency and create a natural flow. Removing upper cabinets on one wall opened up the space visually while adding the large island, which provided additional workspaces and a gathering spot for family and friends.

A classic touch that adds texture and depth to the kitchen design. We selected a slightly handcrafted version with subtle variations that give dimension when light hits the white backsplash surface. A subway tile is perfect for maintaining your budget and adding timeless appeal.

Open Shelves:

Perfect for displaying vintage finds and adding character to the space. For a curated look, group items in threes and include a mix of materials like glass, metal, and wood. We installed brass brackets to support our open shelving, adding an extra touch of warmth.

We chose a fireclay model for its durability and authentic look—the exposed front becomes a beautiful focal point in our farmhouse-style kitchen. Pull-out Spice Racks: Hidden beside the range, these slim cabinets keep cooking essentials organized and accessible.

Custom Drawer Organizers: Wooden dividers keep utensils, cutting boards, and bakeware neatly arranged.

Pantry with Sliding Barn Doors: I had my heart set on a walk-in pantry, but there just wasn’t enough space in the floor plan. Instead, we added a pantry with small sliding doors that still provide a generous amount of storage. The adjustable shelves accommodate items of various heights. This clever design also allowed us to tuck away a few small appliances, like the microwave, to keep the countertops clutter-free.

Large Drawer Storage: To maximize functionality, we included large drawers designed specifically to hold pots, pans, and other bulky cookware. These deep drawers make accessing heavy items easy while keeping everything neatly organized.

Dining Room Makeover with Farmhouse Charm

Our dining room received a cozy yet fresh upgrade that blends modern farmhouse elements with inviting textures. I wanted to be able to sit at the table and bring in the farm fields without obstructing the view.

Stationary drapes added texture without the hassle of moving pieces for an alcove window. A statement chandelier adds warmth and character to the space. By combining these elements, the dining room now feels bright and modern while still maintaining a classic farmhouse vibe.

The key is to be intentional with your metal choices. We used brass for all the “jewelry” of the kitchen—hardware, lighting, and fixtures—while keeping appliances in stainless steel. This creates a hierarchy that guides the eye naturally through the space.

Ceiling Beams: Although there was already one beam that was a functional wrapped header, I added a false beam to balance the space and painted it white to coordinate with the rest of the kitchen.
