Week 5- Renovation Challenge

This week was fast and furious, so much work done this week and it really has started to look like a put together kitchen!

Let’s take a minute to recap Week 1 if you’re playing catch-up. I’m one of 12 designers competing in a 6 Week Renovation Challenge with Jeffery Court where one of us will walk away with a $5k dream vacation! The kitchen in the yellow house is getting a complete overhaul, take a look at the before.

Cabinets were installed this week which I am absolutely in LOVE with! KB Cabinetry did such an amazing job and really brought my vision to life!

Kyle kept the clean crisp lines I wanted, incorporated the new appliances and farmhouse sink, and worked so fast to meet my crazy timeline… without sacrificing quality and professionalism.

Next up was the tiling. I had tiled a backsplash in the past but this was my first floor tiling job ever, so I got a few pointers from the guys at my local hardware store. The best suggestion was using an angle grinder with a diamond blade rather than wet saw for cutting. It worked wonders.

I had ordered the Jefferey Court tiles prior to changing the cabinet layout so I was short a few. When I found out I was unable to get extras in my tight timeline I had to resort to hand cutting some scallops, scary at first but I got quite handy with the grinder!

Up went the wainscotting in the breezeway, painting and grouting tiles.

Near the end of the week I had to make a final decision on countertop (but more on that to come) I decided to go with Dekton from Costintino so a technician from Livingstone, a local distributor came to the house to measure the countertop.

Carpenters were back this week to instal  the faux beam and new window trim, something with cleaner lines to better suit the shaker style cabinets.
