Jeffrey Court 6 Week Renovation Challenge

I have some exciting news! Well, a few tidbits of exciting news… 1. I’m moving! 2. I’m doing a full on kitchen renovation in the Yellow House 3. I partnered with Jeffrey Court for an exciting 6 Week Renovation Challenge.  6 weeks seems like a mad push, but I work best under pressure, and it will get me in the house quicker!

How the 6 Week Renovation Challenge works

Each week, during the competition (Sept 24- Nov 8) designers will upload their progress and the team at Jeffrey Court will provide commentary, make their predictions, and see who makes it to the top spot to earn a much needed $5000 dream vacation!

The Kitchen Before

I have two before photos for you, the before before when I first started on the kitchen a few months ago, and the state when we planned to sell the house and I just gave it a quick lick to get it up to selling point. The after not that heinous, just totally doesn’t make sense for our family and as much as I want to jump on the farmhouse trend, I just can’t bring myself to looooove it.

The 6 week Renovation Plan

Call me crazy but 6 weeks isn’t all that much time to plan, demolish, and execute a kitchen renovation. But I think I have the plans under my belt.

My initial plan was to paint the existing cabinets with a few (what i thought were minor) changes. However, turns out my imagination runs wild and it was going to result in a lot of work to get the result I was after. When I ran my plans by the cabinet maker it made more sense to just start with a fresh slate for about the same expense.

  • remove cabinets
  • build a walk in pantry closet where wall oven is
  • replace wall cabinetry with shaker style cabinets to the ceiling
  • Replace peninsula with a large island with seating
  • Tile west wall from counter to ceiling
  • Tile kitchen floor
  • Tile pantry microwave shelf
  • Instal sliding barn door on pantry

Kitchen Renovation Inspiration

Think I can pull it off? Stick around to find out. I’ll be back next week with a progress update, I hope you’ll follow along to see this project to come to life!
