Week 5 of the Jeffrey Court All-Star Renovation Challenge is bringing all the pressure… however, it is when I do my best work, the urgency kicks me into high gear and brings out my best creativity!

If you’re new here, let me catch you up. I have been chosen by Jeffrey Court to participate in a 6 week All-Star design challenge! I am building a vacation rental in my basement. I’ll be completing alongside 7 other designers for a grand prize of $5000. Like my project so far? You can VOTE by clicking HERE.
Jeffrey Court Renovation Challenge Week 5

Grouting the floor tile

This week the floor was the biggest job. Like I said when I laid it down, I haven’t tiled this big of an area before so it was quite a lot of work to seal, grout and polish the floor. I did it in two phases, you can see in the photo above that I did half, washed and polished it, then proceeded with the other half of the floor.

I am very happy with the Bronson Mosaic Tile . It really upgrades the space and makes you forget you’re in a basement.
Installing the doors

If you watched my Instagram stories this week you would have caught this barn door that we got on clearance at The Home Depot. It was a few inches too narrow, and not really my style. Thankfully, Wilson was able to trim it out and it saved us a couple $ in the long run.

I hunted for the perfect door for the water closet, but no luck. I decided to go with the builder grade, and installed it upside down, there will be furniture in front of it so, I don’t think you’ll notice…hopefully!
The Kitchenette Backsplash

To say I love the Larchmont Marble Mosaic backsplash may be a tad understated! It’s so so good, I can’t wait for the cabinets to be installed at the end of the week. Then a bit of cleaning and decorating and it should be smooth sailing.

7 days to go, can I pull it off? Wish me luck and please take a second to vote!
