I wanted to share some cheap bedroom decorating ideas I used when creating a design for my daughter’s new bedroom. These ideas helped get the sweet space we both wanted, without breaking the bank.
Cheap BedroomD Decorating Ideas for your Girls Room:
Savings tip #1- Sew your own pillows

If you’re handy with a sewing machine the possibilities are endless. Throw pillows can range anywhere from $20+. Getting creative with scraps of fabric to make unique shapes, appliqué, or iron on a fun heat transfer for a custom design. I created this watermelon pillow with the leftover fabric used to upholster her chair.
Savings Tip #2- Stuff homemade pillows with old teddy bears

If your house is anything like ours, your house is overflowing with stuffies. When teddy bears are no longer getting the love they deserve, snip them open and remove the stuffing for your next homemade pillow.
Savings Tip #3- Reupholster Old Furniture

This office chair makeover saved us a bundle. $20, compared to similar ones well over $100! I painted the base with gold spray paint and covered the old fabric with something fresh, fun and fuzzy! Check out how her chair looks with her desk here.
Savings tip #4- Paint a bulletin board

This is one of my best cheap bedroom decorating ideas! I see bulletin boards at the thrift shop all the time for $4-5. A fresh coat of paint in a fun colour that matches your girls bedroom will double as a place to pin up photos and cute artwork.
Savings tip #5- Add legs to a bin or box to create a unique bedside table.

Would you believe this nightstand was once a box to store silverware?!!! I used legs from a stool that was broken and screwed them to the bottom. It is the perfect height for a bedroom with sloped ceilings.
Savings Tip #6- When in doubt add fake flowers

Nothing says cheap bedroom decorating ideas for a girls room like fake flowers! For this mirror, I used Fast and Final spackling to fill in the spaces of the frame. After drying, a bit of spray paint and fake flowers glued on gave it a whole new look! Other ideas to use fake flowers, you can add them to a dollar store vase or mason jar, sew them onto curtains for a sweet trim, or even add a floral hoop wreath.
Savings tip #7- Display toys and collectables as decorations

My goodness kids have a lot of cute toys, most in fun bright colours. Try arranging similar groups of toys and collections on shelves for a cheap bedroom decorating idea.
Savings tip #8- Use handmade crafts as artwork

Create fun and colourful crafts, or your children’s as fun artwork. You can even take it one further and frame original drawings or paintings.
Savings tip #9- Update furniture with new hardware

A fresh coat of paint and new hardware can really make dull furniture sparkle. This is one of the cheap bedroom decoration ideas I have used over and over and it never fails to make my old furniture look brand new!
Savings Tip #10- Think outside the box to update an old piece of furniture.

Would you believe this little ottoman used to be an outdated end table? Just by removing the top piece and adding a piece of foam (up-cycled from an old sofa cushion), and some thrifted fabric we saved $200!

I hope you can use some of these cheap bedroom decorating ideas for girls when you tackle your next bedroom makeover!
