If you’ve ever wondered how to hang garland on a shelf to get that mantle vibe, I have the answer.

Today I’m joining some of my talented blogging friends for the Christmas Seasonal Simplicity Series hosted by Krista from The Happy Housie. Be sure to check out loads of Mantle and Vignette inspiration linked at the bottom.
Like me, you’ve swooned over oodles of beautiful Christmas mantles, only to come back to reality and remember you don’t actually have a fireplace... don’t worry I have a solution!

Shelves, bookcases or even a sideboard can give you a beautiful place to drape faux or fresh greenery, that won’t require a renovation.
How to Hang Garland From a Shelf

Simply use cable ties (or zip ties) to attach the greenery directly to the frame of the shelf. They come in a variety of colours (even clear), so you should be able to find one the can easily be hidden amongst the greenery. Check out how I used this same technique to hang banister garland.

Should your shelf not be open like mine, Command Hooks is another way to hang garland on a shelf. See in this post how I used them to hang garland from a door frame.
This Christmas vignette is decorated with a calming colour scheme this year. I began with the Snowy Sleigh Ride print from my shop and used whites and silver decorations to complement it.
My vintage favourites couldn’t be left behind. In previous years I have piled all my collected treasures on the shelf above, but this year I switch things up by arranging them on a shelf near the entrance.

I couldn’t resist having this Jolly Santa from my Collected and Curated print shop incorporated into my decor! He pairs so well with the I’ll be Home with Bells on print too.

I used cable ties on these shelves to attach the garland as well. Both shelves began with a fake garland, then fresh pine and cedar boughs were poked in throughout. This gives a fresh look with the stability of a faux garland. To help maintain the freshness of the greenery, I occasionally spritz it with water.
