Colorful Master Bedroom Refresh
I think I will coin this past few months ‘the summer of renovations’. Four spaces underwent a facelift… but a colourful master bedroom refresh was on the top of the list!
The Colorful Master Bedroom Makeover
It wasn’t even that I disliked the master bedroom decor, I just needed something fresh. Plus, I had to get a new bed, so no time like the present to give it a little makeover!

New Lighting
This beautiful aged brass Dutchess pendant light from Hudson Valley was what set my decorating wheels in motion. If you looked through the master bedroom before photos you might have noticed I cut the light out of all the photos… yeah, there was a reason for that, it was hideous. Not this beauty, she’s a keeper!
As you may have noticed, I didn’t even paint all the walls. I just changed out the grey accent wall for a white. Just so happened the bedding I chose had a very similar colour as the existing minty walls.
Furniture Makeovers
Do you remember the before of this old dresser?! It already went through one extreme makeover, but a splash of colour and some new champagne bronze pulls from D. Lawless Hardware brought it right back to life.
While we’re on the topic of repainting furniture, I also freshened up the night tables as well.
I’ll use the term nightstand loosely as it’s actually an old TV stand I repurposed. Makes for a perfect blanket chest for my wool collection.
If you follow along with my stories, you likely saw the bed building in progress. I found the headboard at a discount shop for $90. My BF built me a frame and we covered it in a coordinating fabric. I’m quite happy how it turned out.
You may recognize the area rug from the last One Room Challenge project. I love when I can repurpose a piece in another space!
I have long since admired a few colourful cloud paintings I found on Pinterest. Rather than getting a completely new piece of artwork I just painted over the sign. After all, it already fits so perfectly.

We recently painted our bedroom a very similar color and I wasn’t sure how I liked it for the simple fact that it’s much lighter than the previous color and it shows how empty the room really is! I love your cheerful room and I am encouraged by your brilliant repurposing! I’m having a hard time tracking down your gorgeous bedding. Any tips?
I actually have a bit of a tricky time too. I’d start there though, it is much easier to match other things to your bedding rather than vice versa. Try a pinterest search for the color or a broad term like floral bedding and gather some inspiration, then I like to see if I can find what I like on Ebay, overstock or amazon to get a good deal!
