My Kitchen- The Hub of Our Home

Today is the day I introduce you to our kitchen! The kitchen is the hub of our home, the catch all, the heart.  Everything goes on in there, family, business, meals, homework, tea parties… and even though I have a pretty fabulous craft room it often becomes craft room #2.

We Built our home 4 years ago, so as you can imagine everything is fairly new.  I designed the kitchen myself, so I essentially got what I wanted.

I found a cabinet maker that took my drawing an recreated my vision. The pantry was on the top of my list of necessities. I grew up with a pantry so I couldn’t imagine storing all my groceries and tools in those few cabinets.

The pantry is a very difficult room to get a decent photo of. I absolutely love the plate rack my brother created from some leftover flooring. Very simple but keeps the plates from being in a stack.

However, saying that I got what I wanted really means

I got what we could afford.

 But what if I had another $10,000 to blow?

That would be a whole different story.

For starters my appliances don’t match we bought them at an outlet. There is a dent in my fridge (which nocked off $1000), my oven was an end of line, and I opted for a white dishwasher so it would blend in with the cabinets (but was really because it so MUCH cheaper).  I really wanted a fancy backsplash, expensive stools, a Delta Touch 20 faucet, a farmhouse sink, and exposed shelves on my big empty wall.
