The Airbnb Rental After

I still can’t believe the color combo I chose for this Airbnb rental, someone pinch me! I’m sure you’ve gathered I’m really a pastel kind of lady, but for some reason I stepped outside my comfort zone and bumped up the saturation a few notches for this airbnb apartement makeover.

Can you believe this one room can sleep up to five, with the roll away cot?! Would really be perfect for a family looking for a place to stay in the Berwick, Nova Scotia area.

The Before

The eclectic vibe of the mismatched furniture really came together just by coordinating the color of the pieces.  As per most of my makeover projects, I was on a tight budget. I repurposed what I could, dug around in my basement for a few treasures, and bought discounted items or thrift shop for the rest! Amazing what a coat of paint can do to flip a space around.

Aren’t these vintage night stands just the cutest! I had originally planned to paint them all white, but when I found a can of PPG Voice of Color Va Va Voom untouched in my basement I knew it had to have a little splash of color! The matching lamps from Staples were inexpensive and adds a modern touch to the space.

One splash of paint led to another and soon I found myself needing more of the yellow in the room… the vintage dresser was my next victim! I paired it with a roadside mirror find, painted in a stark Voice of Color Vincente Wolfe White.

You may have noticed how many colors I have used in this one small room. Four on the walls, and two accent colors. It sounded crazy to me too, but once I put it all together I couldn’t be more pleased.

It seems I’m always adding a gallery wall to every new space. I find it such a perfect way to add lots of visual interest quick and easy. We’re fortunate to have a friend (Laura at Deep Hollow Print) that creates beautiful posters on a vintage printing press. They were the starting point for the gallery wall.

I love finding interesting free photos on Canva to work into gallery walls. Add some text and bam, you have yourself a free printable! I used Staples Copy and Print Centre to have the prints made. I just uploaded them to their easy to use online service and they arrived at my door only a few days later!

Since I was on a shoestring budget I tried my hand at painting a bit of my own art. I’ve never painted something so large, but I have to admit it was a lot of fun! I used all the colors in the room, and since I was painting on wood the leftover Voice of Color paints worked perfect!

To make the room more comfortable for guests we have a few amenities like a fridge, microwave, plus tea and coffee… we know the perfect place to grab a great meal!

I was so lucky to find bedding for the airbnb apartment makeover at Walmart. I was shocked to find this pretty quilt set with most of the room colors in it… even after I had painted the walls! The twin comforters were a steal at $15, and the yellow pillows I scored at a yard sale for $4.

The bathroom was a big eyesore prior to the paint. A fresh coat of pretty pink Cozy Cottage really brightened up the space. I would have liked to replace the vanity and flooring to something with storage but time and budget didn’t permit. A new faucet, vanity light and some baskets did the trick for a quick makeover.

I also had this peacock feather poster printed at Staples, I love the pop of color!

Painting the doors and trim really contributed to brightening up the space, even with the bold colors; it made the space look so fresh.

The Paint

These saturated colors made the space so warm, the room has high ceilings and lots of light so using dark colors didn’t close in the walls and make it look too small.
