Friends, what a crazy 6 weeks! Today is the final reveal of the Jeffrey Court Renovation Challenge! I couldn’t be more excited about this basement kitchen update. Let me introduce my basement guest room.

Jeffrey Court Renovation Challenge Update
Due to some major delays we weren’t sure if we were going to pull this off, but we got creative and came through!

If you are new here and came to see the reveal of the Jeffrey Court All Star Renovation Challenge, welcome! I’m so happy you found me! I hope you like this renovation and take the opportunity to VOTE!

If you want to follow the whole renovation check it out here Week 1 | Week 2 | Week 3 | Week 4 | Week 5.

I can’t believe how all the elements came together, we were able to transform this dark and dirty unused basement into this… in just two months!
Check out what we started with…

Take a little video tour of the basement renovation
My starting point for this project was the beautiful Bronson mosaic tile. After having to start fresh after flooding last fall, I knew I was never going down that road again. Tile was the perfect solution for something that would be timeless, long lasting and stand up to traffic from guests.

This tile typography was one of my biggest DIY victories ever! I have a post in the works with the process how I did it.

The small thrifted dinette I refinished in week 3 fits perfectly just at the end of the kitchentte.

The dining area is highlighted by a sweet flush mount in aged brass with opal glass shades from Dainolite. Although the room is small and open concept, this lighting draws the eye to the space, separating it from the rest. It is the perfect fit as the ceiling is low at 7′ and the fixture isn’t too obtrusive.

I wanted to create a space that was not only functional for guests, but add a touch of luxury to their home away from home. If they are choosing to stay in our vacation rental rather than a hotel, I want to offer a unique boutique vibe.

A few of the designer finishes I went with to achieve this look are the tiles, Bronson on the floor, and Larchmont for the backsplash. Can you get enough of that glam gold?!

The solid surface countertop from Formica in Bleached Concrete is perfect for this space. Soft satin finish, muted pattern, and easily maintained

I carried the gold elements throughout the room with the Nala Gold Sink and Santino Champagne Gold Kitchen Faucet from Pearl Canada. It really makes the kitchenette pop and packs a big punch to make this small space seem not so little.

The Cockatoo Paradise – Honey And Silver paper from Photowall set the colour scheme for the Jeffrey Court Renovation Challenge basement kitchenette update. I’m such as sucker for a gold and pink combination!

The paint for the space is Night Blooming Jasmine YL-W10 from Behr. It is a white with a yellow undertone. There is no natural light in this space, but the LED lights make it seem like a soft french vanilla white. I used it on both the walls and ceiling to give a cohesive look. I used Behr Ultra Stain Blocking Paint and Primer in one.

The cabinets are a classic shaker style painted in Stolen Kiss by Behr with San Marco hardware from Schaub and Company. The solid surface countertop in Bleached Concrete from Formica coordinates so well with the backsplash tiles and ties everything together.

I was so happy to be a part of this Jeffrey Court All Star Renovation Challenge. Nothing like a healthy competition to whip a space into shape.

To complete the space I incorporated a Hisense 55″ 4K Smart Roku TV. The TV is on a swing arm so it can be comfortably moved to suit the viewer. What is a vacation rental without an awesome TV experience?!

Love this! so chic and functional to boot! Can you share with the mini fridge and lil microwave are from?
Thank you so much! Both appliances are actually from FB marketplace. The fridge handle was old and yellowed so I taped it off and spray painted it gold!
