Leading up to the holidays I was a busy worker bee in the craft room. Not only was I trying to bring you some fun Christmas ideas, but also whipping together some great handmade gifts for my loved ones.
If you’re following me on Facebook or Instagram you may remember this post…
Doesn’t look like much eh? Well, my son brought it to me and said “Momma can you make this into a red suvvy (ie. soft) blanket for me?” I laughed, snapped a photo, and didn’t think much else of it… until the next time we were in the craft room, and the time after that, and the time after that, he inquired about the status of his red blanket.
I guess a red suvvy blanket was on order.
I’m terrible for leaving things to the last minute so when I realized there was only a week to Christmas, it was crunch time in blanket land.
Since there was no time for piecing a quilt together I had to turn to my favourite sewing pal- applique. And what’s applique without his trusty steed the Silhouette?!
This Silhouette Vintage truck file I created is yours for free! Just because I love you that much, almost as much as my little guy loves his new red blanket!
My little man is still sleeping in a toddler bed so I placed the Vintage Truck Applique to the right rather than centring it. The side of quilt against the wall touches the floor, but this way the quilt will grow with his bed size a bit better. A lot of Red going on in that room, Levi loooves red! The back side f the quilt is red minky fabric, makes you want to really snuggle up.
I love using my Silhouette for applique. You can read a quick tutorial here to get the skinny. But let me tell you it is as easy as ironing on Silhouette fusible interfacing and using a fabric blade, cuts like butter with a warm knife!
I’m so happy you’re visiting today to grab this FREE Silhouette Vintage Truck Cut File, I’d love if you were a regular around here!
Please consider subscribing so I can keep bringing you these fun freebies!
