Today I’m sharing an easy yarn Valentines craft, it’s a perfect craft for kids and they are so cute you’ll want to put these yarn wrapped hearts everywhere!
Yarn Valentines Craft: Yarn Wrapped Hearts
These yarn wrapped hearts are a great Valentine’s Day craft for kids, all you’ll need is:
- Heart shaped cookie cutter
- Thin foam sheet
- Yarn (in various colors)
- Scissors
How To Make Yarn Wrapped Hearts
- Without cutting the yarn from the ball, stick the yarn end to the styrofoam
- Wrap the yarn in various directions until the heart is completely covered. If the yarn is slipping off the curves, pull a bit tighter so the strand of yarn pulls into the foam.
- When the heart is wrapped to desired thickness cut the end. Using the point of your scissors poke the free end into the foam.
NO GLUE, NO MESS, this yarn Valentines craft is a big win in my books!
Look at all the fun things you can do with these yarn wrapped hearts!
Garlands, flower picks, and wreaths! How would you use them?
Easily poke in a wooden skewer, to create a cupid arrow. Add a little paint or craft glue and glitter for a special touch!
My kids loved these yarn wrapped hearts, and I love how mess free this Valentine’s Day craft is!

Oh my gosh, the kids aren’t the only ones who will love making these! The yarn hearts are simply adorable! Wreaths, garlands, plant poke — all such sweet ideas! Sharing these, for sure!
Donna says
What method did you use to string the hearts together to form the garland?
Virginia says
I taped a piece of yarn to a knitting needle and just poked them right through. Hope that helps!

Cool can’t wait to find somewhere in my backward country that sells styrofoam sheets so I can have a crack at these. I’m also guessing the wreath is made using the same/similar process with maybe tulle or ?? to wrap it with ??
I’m REALLY ( and I mean REALLY !! ) interested in knowing how you made those arrows. You mentioned the skewer – got it – BUT what did … No, no, no … HOW did you make the end pieces for the arrow. I had a near anuerisim (?) trying to figure out how you did it …. ??? … ??????
