I love traditional balsam Holiday wreaths. READ: How to Make a Traditional Christmas Wreath. My sister in law chucked her broken piano and I snagged the cover, which made the perfect backdrop for my outside wreath JOY sign. A sheet of 1/2 plywood cut to 4′ x 2.5′ would work for the base, as I doubt I you have a piano cover laying around.

  • Draw letters onto 1/4″. Use a jigsaw to cut them out (I cut the J and the Y from leftover scrap pieces from my craft room workbench).
  • Paint letters a contrasting color to the back board.
  • Attach letters using a brad nailer and wood glue.
  • Add a coat hook to the center where a Christmas wreath will hang. This will give the wreath a bit more stability and hopefully avoid it being blown off in the wind.

Decorate around your Joy wreath sign with seasonal items.

I love how this wreath sign turned out! Plus, it can be used year after year regardless of the wreath I choose to display on it.
