You will need the following supplies for this heart shaped wreath form:

  • 1 wire coat hanger
  • 1 small pipe insulator (with adhesive if possible, that is what the yellow strip is in the photo). Available in the plumbing section.
  • Duct tape
  • Scissors
  • Pilers

How To Make a Heart-Shaped Wreath Form

  1. Bend the wire coat hanger into a heart shape. Done mostly with your hands but having a pair of pliers to bend the neck down and then back up makes it easier. Use the pliers to bend the hook into a circle for hanging the finished wreath.
  2. Cut the pipe insulator in half. Wrap half on the first side of the hanger, with the seam to the outside. Remove the adhesive strip and stick the seam together. Do the same to the other side.
  3. Using the scissors cut a 45 degree angle from the bottom edge of each side of the pipe insulator. This will allow the foam to fit together to make the point of the heart.
  4. Wrap the top and bottom of the heart with a few strips of duct tape to hold the pieces together.

  1. This is such a clever idea as you can get huge pieces of pipe insulator for a low cost. I used to use it in the classroom to make marble roller coasters, but now I’d love to pick up some and make a wreath for my home.

  2. we made a heart shaped wreath for our february wedding back in the day. we used a hanger, just like you, and then lots and lots of dogwood wrapped around it. we still have it and always hang it on our door in february, even though it’s quite big.

I’m in need of making my own funeral wreath and because my uncle won’t be buried till a month later, it was requested that flowers used for the funeral be artificial so that they can keep the arrangements and place them at the gravesite when that time comes. My question for you ma’am is, how can I use this same technique but using artificial flowers and possibly making it a lot bigger? Thanks for your time

    1. TO make it bigger I would suggest trying to link two coat hangers together, you’ll definitely need some pliers as bending them are quite hard on the hands. I would get flowers that are on a vine rather than stems so you can wrap it around, I don’t thing hot glue would hold up to the elements. Let me know how you make out.Sorry for your loss

  8. About how many pompoms do you need?

    1. Depending on the size of your pom poms, approx 35. Good luck!
