The title of this post may have you scratching your head if you’re a fellow Canuck, because we all know a Bloody Mary is NOT a Caesar.
As you all know I recently came back from a state side trip. I’m not much of a drinker, but when I’m wearing my vacation shoes I like to let loose a tad. Unfortunately my drink of choice is a Caesar, and those state side folks can’t seem to make one. Every time I asked “could I get a Caesar?” I got a variation of “one Bloody Mary coming up”! I’m sorry, one of these things is not like the other. Sure, they are defiantly sisters, but the salty twist of Clamato is what sets these party animals apart. I’m not a big fan of straight up tomato juice, too thick for my liking.
This is how to make a Classic Canadian Caesar
- 4oz Motts’s Clamato
- 1 oz Vodka
- 4 dashes Worcestershire sauce
- 2 dashes of Tabasco
- Dash of Salt and Pepper
- Celery Stick
- Wedge of Lime
- Mott’s Caesar Rimmer
This drink is so easy to prepare you don’t need much more than the ingredient list. No special instructions. Just rim, pour, dash, garnish and drink!
Never used rimmer before? Here is how–>
Slice the lime. Run a slice over the rim of the glass. Pour seasoning onto a plate, dip the edge of the glass into the rimmer in a circle motion, that easy!
And don’t forget to add an interesting garnish, you don’t have to stop at the celery. I added a dill bean to mine, you can also try a pickle spear, jumbo shrimp, antipasto skewer, sweet onions, olives, spicy bean the options are only limited to your imagination!
Guess what? A Caesar is one of the good drinks to have when you’re trying to loose weight! 4 Weight Watchers points plus or only 2 points for a Virgin! Plus the celery gives you a little nibble to keep you from reaching for the potato chips!
But this Classic Canadian Caesar is not all I have in store for you today…

Every once in awhile I NEED a caesar. There’s something about them that’s like no other. It’s all about the garnishes for me too. In Vancouver, there’s a place that makes the best with freshly grated horseradish and a shrimp garnish- yum!

I had no idea that they didn’t make Caesars in the US. I shouldn’t be surprised given every time I ask for rye whisky they look at me and say sorry. We’re kind of spoiled over. Look great Virginia, I’ll take one to go.

I’ve heard that they don’t have Clamato in the States, which is why you can’t get a Caesar even if you gave the bartender the recipe. No Clamato, no smarties, no ketchup chips, no Twizzlers — the US is missing out on some awesome stuff.

I agree! No coffee crisp also, those poor unfortunate souls! Ha ha

Wish I liked clamato juice but sadly, it’s not my favourite thing. But this looks delicious and the presentation is perfect.

Not a fan of clamato, but we do have it here in the states. Also gave twizzlers and smarties and amazingly ketchup chips. Lol.
