An Exciting Forecast for 2016

You may have been wondering if I disappeared since the holidays. Nope, not gone, just something really exciting in the works, there is an exciting forecast for 2016! If you’re following on social media, or picked up a newspaper in Nova Scotia in the last month you may already know I’m buying a restaurant!

Union Street Cafe

The Union Street Cafe and Wick Pub is a well established business that has had its doors open since 2000. A friend of mine (Lauren) and I will be taking over the business in early March. I’m really looking forward to this new chapter and all the excitement I’m sure will follow. Although I don’t typically share a lot of recipes on the blog; food and catering have been a big part of my life for the past 5 years.

I think meshing Fynes Designs with the restaurant will be perfect. I still get to explore my creative side, but having a venue will allow me to host workshops, and other fun events too… I hope you’ll join me!

The restaurant itself is in pretty good shape as it underwent a little facelift last year…

Of course we’ll have to put a few of our own touches on it, to make it fell like our own.

But then there are a few areas that will need some serious Fynes Designs TLC, like the restrooms for instance…

And perhaps the office…

I really can’t wait to get my hands on these spaces!

Since the new year I’ve been knee deep in planning, gearing up for a new website and blog, choosing decor finishes, and doing interviews. There are so many things to think about!

You might be wondering what this means for Fynes Designs. Good news, I’m not going anywhere! I plan to maintain this blog. I doubt I’ll stop creating, and I have a few exciting contracts this year, but I’m sure until everything is up and running I’ll be a little slow out of the gate. I’ll be here to share my progress along the way, and hopefully some jaw dropper makeovers!

Until then, I’ll be chugging along with regular content… after all Valentine’s Day is right around the corner!

  1. I just live on the South Shore and will definitely plan a spring trip to your new place once your up and going. Very exciting! We get to Berwick (that’s where you are right?) every so often for hockey, but I’ll take any excuse for a trip to the Valley. Good luck! What an exciting year.
