Not only do I have 75 ideas of the coolest crafty gift ideas this year, I’ve went ahead and asked some of the top bloggers in each crafty category for their ideas too! Stocking stuffer- Fun mini measuring tape or scissors. Most crocheters I know are always looking for scissors or measuring tape. A cute creative one is sure to make any crocheter smile!
Big ticket item– Specialty Yarn. Specialty yarns are often very expensive and and heavenly to work with. On my personal wish list is this awesome yarn bouquet from Jimmy Bean yarns, with a price tag of $225.00 it’s definitely a splurge.
Something to read or learn- (book, online class, event etc.) For learning a new crochet skill or technique I love Craftsy.com. I, and several crocheters I know, have taken many of the classes offered on Craftsy and they have all been wonderfully informative. You can go at your own speed, and have access to your classes forever, so if you forget something you can go back and look over the class again.
Can’t live without– Susan Bates crochet hooks. Especially my size H hook, I seem to grab for it more than any other hook.
Something personal- If you can find something that the crocheter in your life crocheted a long time ago, or {even better} something their grandmother/mother crocheted, getting it mounted and framed is a great personal gift. I have a mounted and framed crocheted doily and hook that my grandmother crocheted and used. It is something that I treasure.

Something to read or learn– White on Rice Couple “Story on a Plate” Food Photography and Styling course at Creative Live. They are my photography and styling idols. I saw most of this live but would love to own it. Plus, their cookbook, Bountiful.
Can’t live without– 50mm 1.8 lens Nikon Nikkor Lens My go-to lens if I’m only taking one with me.
Something personal– Anthropologie robe Remember the Mad About You episode where Helen Hunt’s character packs 4 robes for an overnight trip? That’s me.

Stocking stuffer – There’s a few fantastic apps that immediately sprung to mind Paper 53, and ifont maker, you could give it as gift card to the app store plus a stylus, to help create. Plus it would fit perfectly in a stocking!
Big ticket item – Wacom tablet one of these have been on my wish list for a long time! There is so much you can create with this, and you can even use them like a trackpad to work in Photoshop – genius.
Something to read or learn – Thinking with Type by Ellen Lupton – I have the first version & love it, so I imagine this latest edition, which has been revised & expanded, would be even better. And it’s not out yet, but I’m already so excited to read Judge This by Chip Kidd. If his name isn’t familiar to you, go listen to this Ted Talk and thank me later.
Can’t live without – Photoshop of course! For a budding designer, the cost might be prohibitive (although the new CC memberships are a budget friendly way to try it), but the gift of being able to design is something they will thank you for forever.
Something personal – I have a slight obsession with beauty products, so sampler kits are always a good buy. Shoppers Drug Mart usually does a deluxe mascara kit (that includes a voucher for a full size mascara!) and this Sephora ‘Draw the Line‘ set is on my wishlist. If your budget’s a bit bigger, a subscription to a monthly beauty box from Julep, would be a gift that gives all year long.

Stocking stuffer– These modern rosewood crochet hooks from Fringe Supply are amazingly gorgeous. I’d love a whole set, but even just one tucked in my stocking would make me very happy!
Big ticket item– A swift and ball winder or a wooden umbrella style Swift would be a great gift for any crocheter, knitter, or yarn lover.
Something to read or learn– Myra Wood’s Freeform Crochet Class looks like it would be so much fun to take.
Can’t live without– Beautiful yarn. Picking yarn can be a bit personal thought, so I’d recommend a gift card to a local yarn shop. Check out knitpicks, loveknitting, and purl bee, online yarn shops with great selections and gorgeous yarns.
Something personal– I’ve wanted this cute tote From Knitpicks. It’s superfine.

Stocking stuffer- thread in every colour imaginable! A sewist can never have too much thread! These Gutermann gift box sets are nice.
Big ticket item– a coverstitch machine… is sews hems of knits with two needles, for a professional finish (just look at the sleeve of a t-shirt and you’ll see what I mean!) This Huskylock machine is perfect.
Something to read or learn– The Fabric Design Course by Lauren Dahl
Can’t live without– New fabric! Knit jersey in any colour is a sure bet, anything fabric from Cotton & Steel, or a gift card to my favourite fabric store.
Something personal– a handmade gift card for an entire weekend alone in my sewing room (with the promise that kids will be fed, bathed, entertained in my absence!)

Stocking stuffer– There are so many options for fun stocking stuffers for Jewelry crafters – especially since there are so many fabulous different Jewelry options! If your crafter loves to make jewelry with beads, I’d suggest a special bead strand, or even some vintage beads or trims that they could use in their projects. If they are a stamper, maybe a fun new font set or some cool blanks. A gift card to a local bead shop would be a great idea too!
Big ticket item– Having worked with a nice set of tools and the cheapy versions, I can definitely say that investing in a nice set of jewelry tools would be a great gift idea. Well made tools aren’t inexpensive, but they are so much stronger, which will make jewelry making go faster and save wear on your hands as well.
Something to read or learn– Even after doing jewelry for a number of years, there is still so much more to learn! I love taking classes or getting new books – I think those are great ideas for gifts. Craftsy.com has some great jewelry classes and since they are video format they can be watched again and again. Local classes are a great option as well -there’s something about getting in there and being able to learn with your hands on the tools. Most local bead shops will offer classes and so do a lot of community colleges.
Can’t live without– It’s a simple thing, but when I’m making jewelry I love having a little bead tray to lay out my ideas as I work. I am such a visual person and I change things around so much, that I have to be able to layout the design before I put it together. With a bead tray I can see how the beads look together without worrying about them rolling away or the cats deciding I’m setting up a new game for them. 🙂 Here’s an example of a tray, they come in lots of styles and sizes.

Stocking stuffer– a full cordless drill bit kit (so handy!) Having all your bits in a carry around kinda kit is a big hit for me! I can take the entire works to any project desired without scrambling for a container. The best full kits I’ve found are by Makita, however all the bits are totally universal. Worth it! You can see my basic must haves here
Big ticket item– a compound miter saw– While I presently have a 10″ miter saw without the sliding feature (produces longer cuts), my next one will be a 12″ slider so I have more options. But I will admit, the 10″ non slider is lighter weight, making it more effortless to travel around with your tools.
Something to read or learn- (book, online class, event etc.)- I love trying to figure things out for myself without any inspiration, so I’ve created a guide “Creating Your Own Workshop” Pssst… it’s FREE!
Can’t live without– Cordless drill– If you don’t yet have a cordless drill, or at least one you LOVE, please ask Santa for one pronto! A drill should feel comfortable in your hand, and not add too much weight. I suggest to walk into a tool store and hold different ones, and learn how to change the bits. You’ll soon know which one is the one for you. I highly recommend getting those that come in a two pack. They are cheaper and it’s nice to have one for pre drilling pilot holes and one for screwing, to reduce having to change your bits all day long.
Something personal– Two things I can not live without are quality mac products and good coffee.
