2015 Christmas Home Tour- Part 1
This past weekend we opened the doors of our home to welcome locals in for live Christmas Home Tour. It was an amazing experience to be able to share my home and love of Christmas with old friends and new. I want to start my home tour off by expressing my gratitude to everyone who came out to support this charitable event, I’m overwhelmed by the support and generosity of the community… plus completely flattered with all the lovely compliments I received, I’ve been hardly able to carry around my fat head all week!

Since we were opening our home up to the public, I really went all out this year, we have 10 lit trees and a handful of small ones! I know your jaw just dropped, but oddly enough it isn’t overwhelming. I just wish you could all walk though, it’s hard to capture everything. Today I’ll share the main part of our home, and in part 2 the bedrooms and bath.
My natural tree is always my favourite, it’s the one Santa visits, and typically the one I pour my heart into. This tree was a bit on the Charlie Brown side when we stood it up in the stand. I was looking for something a bit spacious to fit larger ornaments, it’s a bit crooked and the branches are a bit too spaced. Thankfully, I had remembered a trick my friend Lucy at Craftberry Bush had shared last year (read all about her secret garland here) and it was the perfect solution for filling holes, and giving the most beautiful snowy perch for my village.
I love how this tree looks in our newly styled living room. The tree against that stunning new Graham and Brown wallpaper in the background, makes me drool a tiny bit! I’m kinda in love with it… but more to come on that after the holidays.
The inspiration for this tree all started when I seen Martha Stewarts magical village wreath last year, I just knew I had to have a magical village tree.
Everything coordinates so well in the living room this year, and adding a new wool rug from RugsUSA really made the space so cozy and welcoming.
…and the perfect place to do a little gift wrapping!
You’d think two trees in a small TV room would be over the top, but the glow is amazing. Oh and that new light fixture my cousin welded for me, yeah we’ll talk about that soon too!

The living room is the perfect place to curl up and enjoy a cup of tea, in the soft glow of the lights.
This Christmas Countdown Calendar from Tiny Prints has been all the rage since arriving. The kids fight over who gets to write the number in each day. A small thing, but I think its going to be a great tradition.
Lucy I mentioned above also painted this fun little Christmas car, swing by to grab her 2015 freebie, it’s super cute!
I decided to add garlands to the doorways this Christmas, rather than just the banners like last year. There is so much green in my house its unreal!
I hung my Fluffy Village Wreath on the garage door, love the natural textures of the ribbons together.
I did very little kitchen decorations this year, of course I gussied up the hutch. Similar to last years decor, but kept the globes in their home!
Each year I always have a natural theme tree, (see last years here) but this year I added pom poms to the mix, and I love how striking they are… and inexpensive too! I reused the ornaments I created last year for my barn rustic tree.
Isn’t this outdoorsy tree cute? I love how plump it is! And the perfect place to hang my North Pole sign (get the free cut file here).
I sewed loads of pillows for our sofas this year, like this plaid guy.
At the other end of the table I have a little hot chocolate station, all ready to go.

The view from the end of the dining room is kinda fun, from my office chair I can actually see 6 trees! I wish I could capture them all at once in a photo!
The foyer tree is done in all gold, but more of that to come.

Wow…so lovely! Are all those trees real? I’m thinking not..but being from NS and all…you never know. 😉
ha ha, no just the village tree is. If it weren’t for having a wood fire and them drying so quick I would love to have all real ones, the smell would be lovely!

Um, oh my goodness you are a Christmas tree MASTER! And three gorgeous trees? Or am I confused? Were there actually four? Wow- anyhow, they are all beautiful in their own way but that white one is breathtaking. Loved the tour Virginia, including you in your adorable Christmas apron. Wish I could have come for the real-life one!!
